Asbestos Building Inspector / Management Planner Initial

Course Description:
This course combines both the Asbestos Building Inspector and Management Planner initial training.

In the first three days, this course provides you with a comprehensive review of suspect asbestos-containing materials (ACMs) in buildings and the state-of-the-art techniques to find, categorize and assess their conditions and potential for disturbance.

In the last two days, the inspector learns what is necessary to do when asbestos is or may become a real hazard and how to select an appropriate response to that hazard.

This course meets the AHERA training requirement for inspectors and management planners.

Class begins at 8am each day with continental breakfast and lunch provided.

Asbestos Building Inspector Initial
Price: US$550.00

Course Description:
This three-day course highlights the nature of asbestos, recognizing when asbestos is a hazard and potential health effects related to asbestos. Also emphasized are AHERA requirements, legal liabilities and details of building systems. Classroom and hands on training focus on the procedures for conducting a building inspection bulk sampling and development of inspection reports.

ABIH Credits: 3.0 CM.

Certificate of Completion: A CAL INC Certificate documenting Asbestos Building Inspector Initial training is awarded to each student who attends the course and passes the required written exam. Full attendance is mandatory.

Course Hours: This three day course held at CAL INC starts at 8:00 am and runs until 4:30 pm. Participants are provided with a continental breakfast and lunch is served from one of several local restaurants each day.

Asbestos Contractor Supervisor Initial

Course Description:
This course meets the AHERA training requirement for Asbestos Contractor/Supervisors. Students will review, in detail, EPA, OSHA and California regulations which apply to asbestos work. The topics covered in detail are: the history and uses of asbestos, health effects, protective equipment, work practices, inspections, safety, and more. In addition to the minimum EPA requirements, students will cover issues of current and enduring importance in the field of asbestos contracting and supervision. Instructors take the time to cover topics of importance to individual students. In-depth coverage of important issues allows students to go back to their work places with the skills to answer questions as they arise. The course includes timely updates and is presented in ways that challenge the students to gain a deeper and continuing knowledge of the topics that effect their jobs. CAL INC utilizes the finest equipment and state-of-the-art hands on training to ensure successful work site application of the course information.

Asbestos Maintenance Worker Initial
Price: US$315.00
Class Times: 8:00AM - 4:30PM

Course Description:
This 16-hour course (OSHA Class III) is required, at a minimum, for all service workers (maintenance and custodial staff) whose jobs may require them to disturb small amounts of asbestos during routine or emergency maintenance-related work. If the anticipated work is either not maintenance related (such as renovation, new system tie-ins, etc) or not able to be contained in a single, standard sized glove bag or waste bag, then AHERA accredited courses will be necessary.

In this two day course workers will cover regulations regarding this type of limited asbestos-related work, history, and uses of asbestos materials in buildings, potential health effects, personal protection, engineering controls and response actions, and methodologies for abatement and disturbance during routine maintenance activities. We offer real-world solutions to people who work in the real world.

Asbestos Management Planner Initial

Course Description:
This two day intense training covers the regulations in greater detail. This course is one of the Cal-OSHA requirements for Asbestos Consultant Certification and is required for all persons writing management plans in schools. In this course students will cover EPA hazard assessment protocols, appropriate selection of response actions including removal, encapsulation, repair and enclosure, development and implementation of Operations and Maintenance Programs, uses and limitations of air sampling as a tool for assessing hazards, use of state-of-the-art data base systems to control the management planner's daily operations. Students will use this knowledge to develop and use a management plan and O & M program in the class. The course instructors are field experienced in writing and implementing complete management plans for the 90's and into the next millennium.

ABIH Credits: 2.0 CM.

Certificate of Completion: A CAL INC Certificate documenting Asbestos Management Planner Initial training is awarded to each student who attends the course and passes the required written exam. Full attendance is mandatory.

Asbestos Project Designer Initial
Price: US$695.00

Course Description:
The three day course meets AHERA requirements to become accredited as an Asbestos Project Designer. This course is required to design asbestos-related projects in either public and commercial buildings or schools. This course is also one of the required courses for California Certified Asbestos Consultants.


This course of instruction provides students with an opportunity to study, evaluate and design asbestos response options for common asbestos abatement situations. Some of the complex design problems are explored as you are led through scenarios from actual jobs your instructor was involved in. The instructor’s field experience comes into the classroom. In addition to concerning common uses of asbestos in buildings, health affect issues, and respiratory protection, you will review pertinent regulations, liability issues and asbestos abatement work practices. You’ll touch on the more difficult aspects of air sampling, and discuss cost estimating You’ll even get current written cost estimating guidance from several local abatement contractors. As a student, you will participate in an extensive field experience and work to design a project for a building owner, all under the guidance of an experienced project designer.

ABIH Credits: 4.0 CM

Prerequisites:

While EPA does not specify any prerequisites, CALINC strongly urges student applications to take the Asbestos Contractor Supervisor course prior to taking this class.

Certificate of Completion

A CALINC certificate documenting Asbestos Project Designer accreditation is awarded if you attend each day and pass the written examination on the final day. Full attendance is mandatory.

Asbestos Worker Initial
Price: US$550.00
Class Times: 8:00am-4:30pm

Course Description:
This four-day course is accredited by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and meets OSHA requirements for Class I & II work. The course covers many topics including safety, laws and regulations, and state-of-the-art work procedures. The participant will also be involved in a 14 hour segment of hands-on training which will include activities such as donning personal protective equipment, building a decontamination unit, glove-bagging, and proper use of common asbestos abatement equipment and tools. Prerequisites: None.

Certificate of Completion: A CAL INC Certificate documenting Asbestos Worker training is awarded to each student who attends the course. Full attendance is mandatory.
