COURSE DESCRIPTION
This training is focused on professional automotive technicians who repair and replace brakes and clutches. By law, most professional automotive shops must follow the Cal/OSHA regulations in 8 CCR 5208, Asbestos (General Industry regulations). These are mandatory measures that employers must implement for automotive brake and clutch inspection, disassembly, repair, and assembly operations. By using these practices mechanics can minimize their potential exposure to asbestos, if it is present, and thereby reduce their risk of developing any asbestos-related diseases.
8 CCR 5202(A) and (B) states: The employer shall institute a training program for all employees who are exposed to airborne concentrations of asbestos at or above the PEL and/or excursion limit and ensure their participation in the program. Training shall be provided prior to or at the time of initial assignment and at least annually thereafter.
Suggested:
A. Initial training: 8 hours
B. Refresher: 4 hours annually
